Moon and Back

By Nature Nourishing and Refining Face Mask and Replenishing Night Crème // A deluxe assortment of 48 praline-filled Guylian Chocolates – the world’s favourite Belgian chocolates // Joico Smooth Cure Shampoo & Conditioner //  $100 Cotton ON Kids Voucher // $30 Happy Moose Voucher // Breville Shake Creations // 4 HOYTS movie passes // 4 The Collective Greek Yoghurt Scoff’rs vouchers // Mamma teething necklace from Mocka // Sweet As popcorn pack // Big Hero 6 DVD, Paddington DVD, Alexander DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment // Hedbandz game and 2 Necknapperz of your choice from Planet Fun // Yalumba Galway Shiraz 2013 from the selection of champagnes on Advintage

We’re pretty sure it was a mum who invented the phrase ‘love you to the moon and back’, because that’s how deep the mum love runs.  (Unless it was Neil Armstrong – he would really have a grasp on that concept).  But these mums, the mums who love their family (whatever the make up is) to the moon and back, they’re everywhere.  They’re coaching netball, they’re driving kids here, there and everywhere, they’re working their butts off to provide, they’re doing the kindy run, they’re making breakfast, lunch, and dinner ev-er-y day.  They’re in bed singing lullabies and missing the start of Shorty street.  They’ve traded in nights out for nights in, and dressing up for dressing gowns.  They love nothing more than having fun with their kids, even after they recently broke [insert treasured item here].  You know one of these mums, the ones giving it their all and who love nothing more than making memories with their family.  This prize is for them to enjoy with their kids.  (Except they need to hide the wine.  And the chocolates, definitely hide the chocolates).

We want you to nominate the Mum that loves her family to the moon and back, and deserves this amazing prize.  Tell us why she should win, and if she’s chosen, you’ll win a nominator pack stuffed with some of our favourite treats. (Because we’re pretty sure that you’re awesome, too).

How long is a piece of string?
How far is it to the moon?
How deep is the ocean of love?
I was a very ill child and with mum having language difficulties, she held onto that shining star of hope and faith. She was not afraid to ask questions, and she was not afraid to be embarrassed to find answers and options to help me survive.
I dont think I will ever be able to measure my beautiful mothers love, but one can hope and to continue her great teachings, wisdom, knowledge and love through living a life of forgiving, laughter, caring, humbling and doing the right thing by society.
Im not on here to win a prize for my mum, im here to take my hat off to all the mums who do what they do – without question! Amene.

I would like to nominate my mum-in-law, Ini. After I had my baby last year, I found myself struggling with post-natal depression and at one stage felt like I was drowning. When things were hardest she was the person who would consistently turn up and happily help me out without asking by doing things like the washing, vacuuming and cooking, just to give me a helping hand. This year has also chosen to give up work (taking a huge financial hit) so that she can look after my baby while I work part-time – which I had to in order to be eligible for a mortgage. She’s a wonderful, giving and humble person and never asks for anything so a small gift would go a long way towards recognising that every day she goes to the moon and back to help our little family.

I would like to nominate my mom, she’s a mother of 8 & we were all a huge handful, mom always had time for each of us & we never felt like we ever missed out on anything (even though we didn’t have much money) she would give up a lot of things to make sure each & everyone of us were happy, healthy, fed, clothed, made sure we never gave up on our dreams, pushed us to do our best & to keep trying. She sacrificed so much & is such an amazing woman, even when she broke her back she still didn’t take things easy, our youngest was a newborn when that happened & I never heard her complain, she is one of the most hard working people I know, she’s determined, talented, loving, kind, funny, sweet, helping, giving, charitable, inspirational, strong, beautiful, caring, fun & so much more. She always puts others first so I would love to give her a lovely treat to thank her for everything she did for us

My friend Hayley. Her family are her whole world. She lost her Mum to cancer two years ago, who she had the most amazing relationship with. Last month she told me there would be no Hayley time this year, her Dad has liver cancer. She spends all her time theh her husband and two boys, so any extra time she can find gets spent helping her Dad. She’s the happiest bubbliest friend, and I adore the way she puts her family before anything else. A prize pack would just about make her bubble over, and definitely bring tears to her eyes :)

I’m nominating my friend Sunny…who has been unable to have a child of her own. 8 and half years ago, they had an 18 month old girl placed in their home under foster care. Since then, Sunny and her husband have treated her as their very own…they would love nothing more than to adopt her but because of the lousy adoption laws in N.Z, it’s been 8 years of struggle and tears. This week gave them yet another set back. As far as their daughter is concerned…Sunny IS her mother…and through all the struggles of fighting to be able to adopt their daughter…Sunny has remained a super woman, going above an beyond for a child who is not legally her own but in every other way very much her daughter. I think she really deserves a treat to let her know she is doing an AMAZING job, to help up her spirits to keep her head up and to keep fighting for her daughter who DESERVES to have a place to belong. Happy mothers day Sunny!

She will sometimes snort when she laughs
She will zone out and stare stone cold at you for revenge if you get one over her, especially in a tickle fight!
She made a rule that on my birthday I gain a year, and on her birthday I gain her year.
She sings beautifully, even inventing new chords I have never heard before.
In the dead of night she often leaps to her knees in the bed and chastises me for pouring beans down the bathroom sink and making the garage we don’t have, smell of mothballs and old orange juice. Then she will drop dead asleep, snoring as I lay there like a bewildered cat that’s been put in a chillibin and spun around several times.
She will spend the most part of her meals warm life striping all the fat and sinew off her meat which is fought over by her husband and eldest son
She is an amazing cook! Don’t give her your personal favourite recipe or you will never again be remembered for how great it was…she will!
    Her laughter is contagious
    Her smile is melty
She will try and try and eventually end up giving
She has put soo much life, energy and heart into the raising of her three sons, keeping her house and its affairs in check and husband in line that if her example was adopted by everyone this world would be a fun, quirky, organised, loving and peaceful world.
In the words of our eldest son:
“Mamma I luff you to the stars and to the moon and to the stars and to the house”
We love our mamma beyond the moon and back!

I would love this for my sister who lives in Auckland. Her family lives a really Busy life and she bends over backwards to ensure everyone is happy and doing what they love. Her kids are sparky and friendly and so excited by the little things. I would love this for them to be able to relax with one weekend, quick back and enjoy some family time together.

I nominate my mum, Carol Miller. My brother and I have not always been the easiest kids to raise, I’m sure we are responsible for more than one grey hair on her head. (she grows glitter though, she tells her grandkids!) I have no doubt that I could always call on my mum, no matter the time of day or day, week, month, she will always be there to help.

My mum is the most selfless mum. She sacrificed 3 years of her life to support me to become a midwife. She got up in the middle of the night to come babysit, she would pick my daughter up from school and she would tuck her in at night. Now she is losing her eyesight and is already legally blind in one eye she spends as much time hanging out with my daughter before the opportunity is gone. I have another baby on the way and I hope that this baby gets to see how wonderful nana is and is lucky enough to have nana spend as much time with him or her before she can no longer see. My mum is on and invalids benefit and can’t afford the nice things. Barely making the ends meet as it is with the cost of rent here in Christchurch. My mum has put her life on hold for me and I just want her to know how much I appreciate it. Thanks mum.

My Eldest sister Kylie is such an amazing Mum and would do absolutely anything for her 3 children. The 5 of them live in a tiny 2 bedroom house and don’t have all the material possessions many people these days consider necessities, but they have everything they need. clean clothes, good food, but even more importantly A loving mother and Father; who put their own needs and desires at the bottom of the list. It would be so nice for someone to put HER at the top of the list ;-)

She definitely goes the extra mile when supporting my son and I and always does it with a smile on her face. I’m so thankful she’s here. She’s such a giving person. Not only does she keep our family going but she helps organise activities for the older people in our town, even though she’s over 70 herself.

My grandchildren are the apple of my daughter’s eye. I am filled with pride when i see how much love she fills their lives with – but at the same time it saddens me that she does not have the life she deserves. With her partner and father of her two children deserting her, leaving her to deal with mortgage payments, and debt he had unknowingly racked up she had to quickly find employment (had been a stay at home parent for 8 years) and a way to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Rather than buckle under the stress she rose up and took on the challenge. She found employment and is able to pay the bills and occassionally spoil the children, but, she never has anything left over to treat herself. As a mum i could not be prouder of her and would love to see her receive a surprise. Thank you.

She has 4 children under6 and she does such an amazing job! I was wondering if I could nominate my mum and myself who are doing a tag-team job of being mum to our three little people at home. Our fourth little one took us all by surprise yesterday morning and decided she was coming 9 weeks early, so I’m in hospital and mum moved up temporarily from Christchurch (leaving dad behind and also her own business) 8 weeks ago to help run our household so I could be on bedrest. Needless to say she’s gone above and beyond the call to be an amazing mum and has kept our three in their normal routines as well as keeping the house in order. This prize would be a wonderful opportunity for us to spend time with the kids as special times together in between spending time with their little baby sister in Neonatal during the coming weeks.

No matter what Heather herself is facing, she ALWAYS puts the needs of her family first! Heather goes without so her children can have. She is always supporting her children in every aspect of their lives. Heather frequently has a multitude of other teenagers camping over at her house – not only is she super mum to her kids, but to the neighbourhood kids too. And she is such a COOL mum that they all want to hang out with her too! Heather deserves a treat that acknowledges the extra mile she always goes.

She suffered from post natal depression following her daughter’s birth but sought help and came through, emerging as an extemely strong, determind woman. She has recently returned to work to better support herself and her daughter, and i am proud of her. Her daughter is her life, she goes without in order that my niece has a great life. My Sister-In-Law Sam Daly is the absolute most deserving hard-working mum I know!!! Her tribe of four kids includes one special needs’ boy and a new bubba and they are so much fun and of course hard work at times – Sam works tirelessly making sure everyone is happy, softball runs, ballet classes, breakfast lunch and dinner, days out, movie nights, birthday parties, sleepovers, pick-ups and drop-offs, homework, special ed, the list goes on… I can’t think of anyone who deserves to be treated more than Sam and her lot! If she’s the lucky winner I volunteer to babysit the little one so she can take the 3 kids to the movies and have a mini shopping spree for some cute winter gear with the Cotton On voucher. Then I’d have the kids at my place for a night to watch Paddington & Big Hero 6 while Sam stays in and does a facemask, eats yoghurt, snacks on fancy chocolate and has a well deserved glass of wine xxxxx she is a Mum on Top for sure!!!!
