We know how those Mother’s Day Virgins are feeling.  This is it!  For the first time, this Mother’s Day is actually about them!  (I grew a human, people!  Someone better bring me some breakfast in bed!)  Whether the babe is already in their arms, or they’re due any day now, we’ve all got a new mum in our lives that deserves to be celebrated.  Because when you become a mum, you’re suddenly running a pretty intense gauntlet of emotions.  The world’s most incredible joy, mixed in with overwhelming exhaustion.  There are fears, tears, excitement, sleep deprivation, laughter and some leaky nipples to boot.  But you know they are going to do a damn fine job of this mum gig – in fact they already are.  This pack is for the Mother’s Day Virgin in your life to enjoy and celebrate their biggest role yet – Mum.

***Thank you to everyone who nominated a mum.  This competition has now closed.***

We want you to nominate the Mother’s Day Virgin in your life that could do with this fabulous prize.  Tell us why she should win, and if she’s chosen you’ll also be a winner!

I’d like to nominate my bestie J. She had a tragic loss and was so brave. Now she’s having twins! She’s going to be such an amazing mum! ❤️

I would like to nominate my cousins wife Katherine. Their absolutely scrummy wee boy Zack joined our family on New Year’s Eve. Her mother lives in Spain and they don’t have any family living in the same city. Being a new mum can be hard enough, even harder when you don’t have your mum on hand to help.

I’m entering my friend Jamie, who has a new gorgeous baby boy and is celebrating her first mother’s day. She is a natural, taking this motherhood gig in her stride, and still smiling, helping others, and volunteering her time. So proud when I saw the photo of her, her hubby, and baby at her uni graduation ceremony last month!

  4. James

    May 10, 2015 at 3:20 pm

I nominate my best friend – my wife, on behalf of our daughter Zaharah. Rebekah and Zaharah have a strong bond. Rebekah is currently having it a bit rough as she returns to the workforce, while still breastfeeding and now battling breast infections. Zaharah is missing her. And I am realising how much work there is to do during a day at home, and wondering, how does she do it?

So trawling through my lists of mums to be, the first person that comes into my head would be Amy Jacobs ( Over the next couple of weeks she is due to give birth to a little moss with one of my fav men Mr Carlos De Treend (

In the time I have followed their love story she has moved to Palmerston North (that in itself deserves a prixe #sorrynotsorry), started a new life with Carlos there, maintained her amazing photography work throughout NZ and started a new photography company with her soul mate. So pick Amy, she’s a good bitch :)

  6. Alice

    May 10, 2015 at 8:55 am

i nominate my new sister in law Kate, who has delighted us all with a niece, girl cousin and granddaughter. This is her first Mother’s Day, and had it been BC I would have expected that my brother would completely forgotten about it as he was always known as useless about things like that. Hopefully he has remembered, as they are on their honeymoon – and this should be a special day for Kate, first Mother’s Day as Mum and first as a wife!

  7. Chrissy

    May 9, 2015 at 6:34 am

Oh yeah…so I nominate my friend Pesi…who deserves to have an extra special Mother’s Day.

  8. Chrissy

    May 8, 2015 at 11:29 pm

After many years of desperately wanting kids…my friend has finally become a first time mother…having just this week legally adopted a 13 year old boy. They are over the moon to have each other. My friend never got the chance to hold him in her arms and cuddle him as a newborn, a toddler or even a preschooler…she has cut right to the teen years and it’s all very new to her and her husband and son…lots of bonding and getting to know each other…but the smiles on all three of their faces says it all…he now belongs to a family…and he has the best mother for him. Enjoy your first Mother’s Day Pesi.

  9. Alexa Mills

    May 8, 2015 at 7:59 pm

I nominate my Partner Alexa Mills, She is like most busy Mums juggling three growing pre teen boys, sport, school and life but she doesn’t stop there she volunteers as an ambulance office and fire fighter, works from 8 to 5 (as the song goes). What more can I say time to spoil her Mothers Day bring it on.

My best mates wife is having her first mothers day. She’s doing an alright job. She will have to give me half the prizes if she wins thought. Haha my vote is for Rebecca Daniels

  11. Celina Hall

    May 8, 2015 at 3:12 am

    I nominate my friend Dior!
She’s just had her second baby Yves and I have yet to meet her new addition but the photos I see are so adorable!
Dior is an amazing mum, she loves her kids more than anyone will know, Dior has been through quite a bit in the last year or so and she keeps coming out swinging with her giant contagious smile that everyone loves.
She more than deserves to be spoilt, she is such a special person :) You can’t help but love her.

  12. Laura

    May 7, 2015 at 5:43 pm

I nominate my friend Caitlin. Having recently had her first child she has managed and embraced the struggles and joys that bringing a little boy into the world has brought her and her husband. She inspires us all in the ways she puts her son’s well-being at the fore and maintains perspective in amongst the changes that a new baby brings. I’m sure this would allow her to even better enjoy this first Mother’s Day as a mum and look forward to the many more to come!

  13. Ceara

    May 7, 2015 at 10:48 am

Now, I actually don’t know any first time Mum’s at the moment. But one of my best friends, Sarah Richardson has just had her second boy. What I can say is that when she had her first son, she was the most wonderful first time Mum. She trusted her gut, and just adored being a mother.

  14. Julie

    May 6, 2015 at 8:56 pm

Arlene Gubb met and married a kiwi guy which meant moving away from her family in the Phillipines. They had their first child last year and she has still not been home. She has a great in-law family, but having a baby without the love, guidance and support of your own Mum is a hard thing… especially so far away. She absolutely Adores her wee boy and is doing such an amaaaaazing job with him! You would think she has already raised a rugby team of boys! :-) She is so deserving of this prize it’s not funny.

I nominate my friend Hana, who had her first baby, a little girl named Isobel, just 5 days ago! She and her husband Murray are doing brilliantly – sharing the challenges and the joys of a newborn like champs. They even look like they might be getting some sleep at night! I’d like to make Hana’s very first Mother’s Day as a mother special with this prize.

I nominate my lovely friend Sarah Tulloch who is just about to pop her first bubba!!!! I know Sarah is going to be the best mum ever because she’s so laid back about the whole thing, in fact she’s even given her hubby the thumbs up for an overseas rugby tour when bub’s is only 3 months old!!! How cool is she?? xxx

Her daughter has kept mummy on her toes and they are both at a point now where they have got over some hurdles and really enjoying each other..they have mummy daughter dates and go for coffee…play dates with the rest of the coffee group crew…however mum has to head back to work on Monday after mothers day….this is why I am nominating Justine as she is a top mum and I hope she really enjoys her first ever mothers day as I know she will want to treasure the day and won’t want it to end!

  20. Phil

    May 6, 2015 at 11:22 am

I would like to nominate my sister-in-law who has given me my wish of being an Aunty, all be it to a little madam who is taking after her father (my brother) and our side of the family. She doesn’t sleep, has colic, and a sensitive tummy. So Claire who is quite the foodie has gone on one of the most restrictive diets. She’s also coping with going back to work 3 days a week while having a partner who shift works, so often has to do the night shift on her own.

  21. Lena

    May 6, 2015 at 10:58 am

I’d love to nominate my friend Corrine. She’s a single mum, looking after her darling 9 month old Charlie on her own, as well as studying by correspondence towards a degree – all while being the greatest friend anyone could have. She really deserves a treat as she’s on a tight budget and anything excess goes towards her little girl!

    May 5, 2015 at 6:08 pm

I nominate Melissa Morgan as all she wants is to be a mum but nature isn’t coming to the party and this will be the third mothers day she’s had to sit it out when she’d planned on getting cuddles from her own child.

  25. Charisse

    May 5, 2015 at 12:29 pm

I would love to nominate Lisa Wilson as a Mother’s Day Virgin! She had her gorgeous wee (or I should say rather large 9.11lb) firstborn boy on May 1st, after a bad accident with a horse a few years ago, her pelvis was crushed, giving no choice but to have a c section , as a misaligned pelvis wouldn’t allow for even a try at a natural birth. She and her partner are going to be great parents and we are so happy for them. They would love to win :)

I would like to nominate my sister in law Victoria! She has her first baby just over a week ago and has had a very rough time. She was very keen on a home birth but due to her waters breaking and labour not beginning she was induced in hospital. She then suffered a very bad tear requiring surgery, while in surgery she started haemorraging. She spent time in ICU as she lost so much blood. Through out this all she has been so positive and cheerful. She is finding motherhood very hard especially with the rough start she has had and i think she deserves some pampering!
