We’ve all got one of those ladies in our life who we look at and think “Gee, I wish you were my mum”.  (And not in a ‘I don’t like my mum’ way, but more in a ‘you’re so fabulous that if I had to choose another mum you might just be it!).  It’s the next door neighbour who gets in your washing while you’re out and babysits your kids.  That teacher who is doing amazing things every single day with your child (how do they manage with 28 of them?).  The friend who breaks out the glitter, play do, scissors and PVA glue with her kids and inspires you to have some fun with yours.  The stepmum who does an exceptional job, and you know is biting her tongue many times a day. Or your aunty who drops off homemade soup because she knows that in between breastfeeding and folding washing and wiping bums, all you’ve probably eaten today is leftover toast triangles and lukewarm tea.  These creative, inspiring, amazing ladies are all around us, and you know there’s that special one who makes you think “I wish you were my mum”.

***Thank you to everyone who nominated a mum.  This competition has now closed.***

We want you to nominate that woman who you almost wish was your mum to win this amazing prize.  Tell us why she should win, and if she’s chosen you’ll also be a winner!

My sister Julie is amazing! So beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. She is so patient with her sometimes demonic children… Even when her 1yr old ate her 3yr olds diarreah! I love her to bits!

I’m nominating my son’s kindy teacher!! He loves her to pieces! She is always smiling – actually make that always laughing – and making every day at kindy an amazing one. I feel so happy knowing that he is so happy at kindy, and I know it is because of her (and teachers like her around the country!) When your kid lists his teacher in his top 2 faves along with santa claus – you know they are special. Thankyou Whaea Sharon!!!

Next on the list is Michaela (AKA https://twitter.com/pinkdeedle). I know you can have woman crush Wednesdays but can you have mum crush Mondays??!

Who else can you send all the awesome vibrator pictures to and have them returned threefold. https://twitter.com/pinkdeedle/status/594984429480620032

She treats her kids like mini grown ups which I love, I’m not quite sure if I want her to be my mum OR I just wanna mum like her.

Ohhhh this is my favourite category! You said we could nominate lots right?!!!

First nominee is Bex McDonald (https://twitter.com/BexieLady). Boobs. I can talk boobs and all types of awkwardness with this lady. Plus she makes cake. Lots of cake. And makes cute babies so this means i get pretty looks too if she magically becomes my mum in the process of this competition?

I want a mum that can say this it would make me happy https://twitter.com/BexieLady/status/595335698690887680

I’d love to nominate my neighbour T. She sought help to get her children out of an abusive living situation even though it meant losing her family and giving up her possessions. Her 5 children are the happiest children i have ever known, always smiling and polite and offering me any help should i need it. T is currently studing to be a pre-school teacher but the road has not been easy, her ex challenging custody, and her youngest son being diagnosed with diabetes should have thrown a spanner in the works. Each time something comes up she put her study on hold whilst she deals with the situation, ensuring her children are in a good space, then she resumes. While she does not have a lot of spare money she takes her children out each weekend to explore different parks and playgrounds, taking picnic lunches with her. I see her out in the backyard chasing her children around with water balloons, laughing her head off, and i think that that is the mother i would choose for myself.

I’m nominating my friend Kylie. She is an amazing mum to her two kids – Despite the fact that her teenage son’s feet (and shoe bill) won’t stop growing, and that her tween daughter told her not to be embarrassing on a school trip. She makes sure their birthdays are special (Hello feeding teenagers and having girly sleepovers!), is all about the family memories, and is an awesome example of a hardworking, fabulous woman!

I’d like to nominate my friend Emma. She is an amazing step mum to two teenage girls. She’s there for school productions, holidays, putting on crazy birthday parties involving large amounts of tinfoil…she does it all! She is an awesome example to them of a hardworking, passionate, creative, and intelligent woman, and I know she loves them endlessly.

I nominate my mother in law Heather. We recently moved cities and live 40 mins away from her, she will come and help out with school activities when I have to try to be at 2 places at the same time. She supports our choices and comes to see my kids play sport most weekends usually bringing a healthy lunch with her for us all. I think I have the best mother in law in the world!

My bestie where would I be without her! Lost!! I am a single mother, a motherless one. My best friend Charlotte is my other half. Even though she has a husband and four kids to look after she is always there. She is a hands on mum always willing to help, me, others, school, anyone and everything she’s there! There is no way I could cope without her, her door is always open. I can depend on her through thick and thin. Not only does she help me look after my daughter, she looks after me. I wish I had a mother like her and I wish I was a mother like her. She really deserves a treat after everything she does for everyone else.

My Aunty Annette. She is someone who is always there if you need her. I know that if I ever needed help, or a place to stay, I could call her and she would do whatever she could to help me, in face she has, many times for me. She is warm and hospitible, and very thoughful.

He is better dressed than most men I know and in his short life has travelled to more countries than I could count on both hands! He has so much love showered upon him by his adoring Mum and Dad that he will most definately grow up with great self-esteem and confidence. Not that MY Mum did a bad job, but man, oh to be one of hers ;-)

My nomination is an interesting one – it’s a wonderful woman called Joy. My highschool sweetheart’s mum! She is one of the most genuine, selfless, loving mums I know and does anything for her children (and now grandchildren). Life has been challenging in some ways but she’s always been so strong and a shining example of how a positive outlook at life can shine through.
