How many plates can you possibly have to create at this time of the year? There are endless occasions that require a plate, and unfortunately, one that needs to be laden with goodies. (And while we are all for cutting up an Ernest Adams slice and artfully arranging it on a platter to fob off as your own, sometimes it’s just not going to cut it).
Thankfully, Alice Arndell has got you completely covered this Silly Season with a her fabulous book Alice in Bakingland, jammed full of delicious treats. You’ll be whipping out your apron and churning out choux pastry faster than we can say Domestic Goddess. And to deliver the goods looking at their absolute best, Dots n Spots have got you covered with beautiful party wear. Mini milk bottles, striped paper straws, everything you need for packaging up beautiful cupcakes, and even an alphabet stamp set to make your own labels.
Of course, sometimes the Domestic Goddess just doesn’t have time, so why not break into a delicious Love Cake brownie mix? (Everyone can open a packet and mix, right?) There’s gorgeous Moondarra cheese to lay out when guests drop by unexpectedly (no really, thanks so much for your unannounced arrival while my house looks like a tornado has just whipped through, may I offer you some cheese?). Six Barrel Soda will keep everyone cooled off, and Borges Olive Oil will do fabulous things in your kitchen. And look, if worse comes to worse, you could always dish up delicious The Collective yoghurt for everyone. (Put it in a fancy dish, it totally counts as a plate).
This competition has now closed. Thank you for entering.

This would be such a great gift. I love Christmas time and start the Christmas baking well in advance before things get a bit crazy. My kids love to get a stawberry santa or chocolate Rudolf biscuit in their lunch boxes throughout December.

Entering for my friend Yukari – A Mum to Be. She never thought she’d have a baby shower in New Zealand because she knows no one here – but now she knows us. We gave her a surprise baby shower. Now we’re entering her in every one of the giveaways with the hope of winning one.

This would be so amazing! I turn into a real “foodie” over Christmas – trying new things, getting my niece to try new things lol. I love getting creative and seeing the reactions of people enjoying new tastes. Plus food brings people together. And that is what the festive season is all about. Arohanui to the MumsOnTop whanau xx

The pantry is stocked with nice crackers, extra special cheese in the fridge and always apricots and nuts in the Tupperware, so making a quick plate to take isn’t a chore. Although when I read the school news this morning the plate that went was a pack of Oreo cookies as I didn’t think the 5 year olds would appreciate blue cheese.

Bring a plate, shared morning tea, shared lunch, pot luck, it’s constant! Rice crackers and dip usually have to do for me, especially because I usually forget until 5 minutes before I have to leave the house! Today I actually remembered the plate (store bought Xmas mince pies) but arrived at daycare only to discover that I had forgotten to organise a secret Sana present! Bring on the weekend (oh but mustn’t forget the Playcentre Xmas party on Sunday… Bring a plate! Lol)
