We know we’re usually all about the Mums around here. And with good reason, too. (Such as, but not limited to, your general awesomeness). But every now and then we see a Dad doing something that’s pretty fantastic, and we like to share those stories with you. Especially when the story involves a dad shaving his head and getting a tattoo of a cochlear implant!
Taupo dad Alistair Campbell signed up for his first tattoo this week when his 6 year old daughter Charlotte received her second cochlear implant. He says it was a “gesture of support”, and it seems to have gone down well with his little girl, who touched it, giggled, and said it was “cool”.
A photo of the pair has gone viral on twitter, with people saying it was a beautiful gesture. For Campbell, however, what matters is that Charlotte will always know the tattoo is there — and if she ever wants proof, he’s willing to shave his head again to show her. “The tattoo was a tribute – this was all about her, not me,” he said. “We have a close father-daughter bond, and I thought it would be quite fitting for me to do that. As she grows older, she’ll understand the love behind it.”
